Mad Science Camp
Get kids excited about science while school is out!
Mad Science camps combine experiments, hands-on activities and demonstrations with outdoor and active play to make sure kids have a fun summer experience with science and learning. All Mad Science camps include takehome experiments so that children can keep the Mad Science fun going at home too!
Full day camp programming runs 9am-4pm with dropoff and pickup within 30min before or after. Extended care (8am-5pm) is available at some camps for an additional fee.
NOTE - we are still finalizing locations, so additional camp opportunities may be added through February. Check back if the current camp offerings don't fit.
2020 CAMP TOPICS
CRITTERS, CRAWLERS & MAD SCIENCE CREATURES
Life is all around us. It comes with a myriad of forms and faces. Campers will explore a different aspect of life sciences each day: Cells, Organs and DNA - all the nitty gritty of how living things work. The individuals themselves - animals & plants, birds & bugs. The ways life interacts - habitats and nature. Campers even imagine what life could be - mythical creatures & mechanical beings!
CRASH BOOM FLASH
Science and engineering combine as campers create and control pulleys, levers, catapults, and mega-pinchers! They will work together as a team to build a geodesic dome. Experiments with lenses and periscopes will be an exciting introduction to light and photography. Don’t forget the bubbling and bursting chemical reactions - make your own sidewalk chalk, brain goo and more!
Can I sign my child up for more than one camp?
Yes, in fact, we encourage it. Each topic is completely different, so your child can enjoy them all without repeating activities!+
Who are the Mad Science camp instructors?
Mad Science instructors tend to be college students pursing an education or science degree, former/retired teachers, or teachers on summer break. All of our instructors have experience working with large groups of elementary-aged children and have undergone an extensive background check.+
What is the child to instructor ratio?
The child to instructor ratio varies depending on enrollment. We always have at least one instructor for every 12 students.+
What should I send with my child to camp?
Even at a science camp kids need active play and sunshine! Sunscreen, closed-toed shoes and a hat are recommended. Pack a water bottle and a peanut free lunch & snack each day of camp. Please don't send electronics. Most important - an enthusiasm to discover and explore!+
Here's what parents have to say about our camps!
Both of our boys did Mad Science summer camps when they were younger, and loved the experience! It was a very fun and interactive experience for them. And counselor Beth Morrell is the best!!!
My son attended the Earth, Space & Beyond Mad Science Camp last summer and absolutely loved it! The hours were convenient for our family, and the location was close by for us. We're sending him again to a Mad Science camp this upcoming summer. These are well run camps, in our experience, and I recommend them for people looking for a fun, science-based camp experience.

My son participated in a true "camp" with horses, swimming, fishing and hiking and he was MORE excited about this camp than anything else he's done all summer. Great job on your end!
